‘Maze Runner’: Why We’re Excited For Dylan O’Brien’s New Sci-Fi Movie!

It’s not coming to theaters until 2014, but we’re already looking forward to the ‘Teen Wolf’ star’s sure-to-be-epic series.

The Maze Runner, based on the book series by James Dashner, is sure to become your next big-screen obsession. HollywoodLife.com has five reasons why the film adaptation, coming out Feb. 2014, is going to be absolutely fantastic — you know, besides just having Dylan O’Brien on a giant screen.

5 Reasons To Get Pumped For ‘The Maze Runner’

1. Two Words: Dylan O’Brien

The 21-year-old actor stole our hearts as lovable sidekick Stiles on Teen Wolf and as smarty pants Stuart in The Internship. Now, we finally get the chance to see Dylan shine in a big motion picture! He’s proven, without a doubt, that he can carry a film. (For those of you who haven’t seen him in The First Time, watch it now!) Dylan is an acting chameleon; he can do comedy, drama and action — and The Maze Runner is sure to showcase all of his talents and more.

2. We Finally Get A Swoonworthy Male Hero

Move over, Katniss; there’s a new young-adult hero on the scene! Amidst all the girl power fromThe Hunger Games and 2014′s Divergent, we were due for a sole (hunky) male lead. Dylan’s Thomas is a young man whose memory is erased after he’s trapped inside a maze., and along with a crew of other captive boys, Thomas must work together with “runners” if he wants to survive and escape the maze. Thomas easily emerges as a “runner,” and a hero among the bunch.

3. Unknown Cast = Endless Potential

Other than Dylan, the rest of the young cast is still fairly unknown. Teresa (Kaya Scodelario), Newt (Thomas Brodie-Sangster), Chuck (Blake Cooper), Frypan (Dexter Darden) and Minho (Ki Hong Lee) all accompany Thomas throughout the movie to try and find a way out of the maze. This unknown cast leaves expectations open and will allow all the performances to shine without the pressures of past roles.

4. It’s The Perfect Valentine’s Day Date

What’s better than some popcorn and a good science-fiction movie? The Maze Runner is set to be released Feb. 14, 2014, and we can’t think of a more perfect way to spend Valentine’s Day than dinner and a movie!

5. A Series To Get Attached To

The Maze Runner isn’t just a one-movie type of deal. Author James Dashner spun his original novel into a full-fledged series – The Scorch TrialsThe Death Cure and a prequel, The Kill Order – so if we’re lucky, we’ll be seeing these characters on the big screen for a long time, which we’re not complaining about.
